A new way to make friends

I’m not the type of person that makes friends instantly. I’m not the person you see, and immediately think “I want to be her friend.” I’m a loyal friend, but it isn’t until people know me for awhile that they want to become my friend.

I’ve been reading Eat, Pray, Love. I loved what Elizabeth did when she went to Italy. When people at home asked who she knew in Italy, she said no one and asked who they knew. She then made contact with the people her friends knew.

So when Scott & I move,

I want to do things differently.

I want to make connections through my friends. I want to invite people over for dinner, and arrange play dates for Lily right away.

Basically, I want to have more of a social life. I want to feel connected with the people and places around me.

I love reading about your thoughts on things. :) Looking forward to seeing that new haircut! Ben and I are about to move again, and I decided I'm going to need to make more of an effort, since it usually takes me awhile to make friends, too. I think I may just hang out in the mother's lounge through the whole block of church and invite myself over to people's houses. ;)
